Tottenham Hotspur are expected to discuss a new contract with Harry Kane in the near future, and his representatives are reportedly keeping an eye on Antonio Conte’s own renewal negotiations before Kane commits his future to the club.
Kane’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024, but Spurs have yet to officially open talks with the England captain to put a new deal in place. The club are naturally keen to tie the 29 year old down.
The Spurs star has been in scintillating form so far this season, registering ten goals in all competitions already this term (Transfermarkt). Kane is now just eight goals away from Jimmy Greaves’ record as Spurs’ all-time top scorer (MyFootballFacts).
Despite talk of a move to Manchester City last summer, Kane now appears to have settled at Tottenham since Antonio Conte’s arrival.
Indeed, the Italian’s plans for the future are crucial to Kane’s own decision as to whether to remain in North London it seems.
Spurs are planning to offer Conte a new contract in the next month (Telegraph), and FootballInsider suggests that contract could be worth £20 million a year.
It is no secret that Kane sees Conte as a crucial element in Spurs’ pursuit of silverware, and a new report from Football Insider indicates that Conte’s decision will influence Kane’s own contract negotiations.

According to the report, it’s believed that “Kane and his representatives will closely monitor Conte’s own talks before deciding whether to commit to a deal that could effectively see him end his career at Tottenham.”

It makes sense that Kane and his people will want to see what Conte does before committing to stay at Spurs. Kane is nearly 30 years old now, and his next move will be very important.
If Conte stays at Spurs, Kane will undoubtedly see out his playing days at the club and ensure his status as a legend at Tottenham. If Conte decides to move on though, Kane will more than likely attempt to find a new project himself in the hunt of a trophy.
