Report provides contrasting update on Man United pursuit of Harry Kane

Contrary to some of the other reports doing the rounds over recent days, The Sun have revealed that Manchester United are ‘confident’ that they will be able to pull off a deal for Harry Kane.

We have converted multiple reports over recent days that have cast doubt on Harry Kane‘s proposed switch to Old Trafford.

One of those was from Football Transfers, who claimed earlier this week that Man United were set to turn their attention to Juventus‘ Dusan Vlahovic as they feared that the Tottenham man would be too expensive.

90 min also reported something similar on Tuesday, stating that Spurs are expected to demand upwards of £100m for Kane this summer.

The report explained that the Red Devils hierarchy are not optimistic about getting the deal over the line as they expect Daniel Levy to drive a hard bargain and drag out the negotiations.

However, these claims have now been contradicted by The Sun, who suggest that Kane remains Man Utd’s number one priority to replace Anthony Martial this summer.

The publication states there is confidence at Old Trafford that they will be able to land the England captain in a £100m deal.

A lot will depend on the outcome of the contract negotiations between Tottenham and Kane.

One would expect the club to begin talks with the striker’s entourage once they confirm a new head coach and director of football.

Should the 29-year-old decide against signing a new deal, the Spurs hierarchy would have a difficult decision on their hands.
