Report provides exciting James Maddison update for Tottenham fans

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to push ahead with a £60 million deal for Leicester City star James Maddison as part of a ‘huge’ overhaul this summer.

Maddison has been in fine form for Leicester this season, with nine goals and eight assists in 28 matches across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Despite his best efforts, the Foxes find themselves embroiled in a relegation scrap this term. They are 16th in the Premier League table, but have the same amount of points as Leeds United and Nottingham Forest beneath them.

There is a very real chance then, that the 2015/16 Premier League champions could lose their top-flight status come the end of the season.

Irrespective of whether they stay up or not, Leicester are now expected to sell Maddison as they try and cash in on their prized asset and balance the books (Telegraph).

It is thought Tottenham Hotspur are the frontrunners for Maddison’s signature, but they face competition from Newcastle United (Telegraph).

Now, sources have indicated to Football Insider that Spurs are keen to get a deal done for the England playmaker and could be ready to pay £60 million to get their target.

The North London club are keen to carry out a “huge overhaul” after a tumultuous season which has left them at risk of missing out on European football next year.

Premier League rivals Newcastle are again named as a challenger for Maddison’s signature, while Liverpool are also believed to be keeping an eye on the 26-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

After all this time, we really need to just get this Maddison deal done.

We know how good he is, he’s a proven talent at this level, and he’s also a homegrown player too.

He is exactly what we need to introduce more creativity to our midfield and has to be a priority this summer.
