Report provides Ivan Perisic fitness update after he arrives at Spurs with calf injury

Ivan Perisic is expected to be fit or close to being fit for the first day of pre-season training at Tottenham after joining the club carrying a calf injury, according to Football.London.

Spurs confirmed the arrival of the Croatia international Perisic on a two-year deal on Tuesday which will begin at the start of July after the expiry of his Inter Milan contract.

But the 33-year-old has arrived in North London carrying an injury to his calf, which he picked up in his final match for the Nerazzurri against Sampdoria almost a fortnight ago.

Perisic opened the scoring in a 3-0 win on the final day of the Serie A campaign, but had to be replaced by Robin Gosens after being unable to continue.

Inter confirmed Perisic underwent an MRI scan two days later which revealed the problem was a pulled medial gastrocnemius muscle in his right calf.

Now a Tottenham player, Football.London has claimed Perisic is expected to shake off the problem and be nearing full fitness towards the start of pre-season training this summer.

Spurs are first due to jet off for a tour of South Korea and the wing-back’s first outing could come when the club takes on Team K-League in Seoul on July 13, before facing Sevilla three days later.

Perisic’s injury is not ideal of course, but it doesn’t seem too bad given club football is now in the off-season and he has plenty of time to recover.

Hopefully, his recovery goes smoothly and he’ll be able to join his new teammates for pre-season and then head out on tour to play in these important friendlies.
