Report provides January update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic

The Times’ Gary Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will try to snap up Dusan Vlahovic again in January after failing to complete a deal for the Fiorentina star in the summer.

The speculation linking Spurs with a move for Vlahovic has gone into hyperdrive since Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham last month.

According to some reports (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness), Conte made it clear as soon as he arrived at Tottenham that he wants the club to prioritise a move for the Serbian international.

The North London club are thought to be facing competition from the likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester City for the 21-year-old’s signature.

The Times have now become the latest publication to back Spurs to reignite their pursuit of Vlahvoic in January.

The report claims that Fiorentina want £77m for the 21-year-old in January and the centre-forward is looking for a substantial pay rise, demanding wages of around £200k/week before tax.

If Spurs offered Vlahovic such a contract, he would be the highest earner at the club, alongside both Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele.

The only reason that I see Spurs paying £77m for Vlahovic is if the club fear that Harry Kane might push to leave in the summer.

If Kane refuses to sign a contract extension, then the club would not have much choice but to cash in on him next summer as that could be the final window where they can get top dollar for him.

If Spurs are hopeful that Kane will commit his future to the club, then they would likely want to invest that £77m into other areas of the squad.
