Report provides new update on Heung-min Son fracture and surgery

The Telegraph have revealed that Heung-min Son actually fractured his eye socket in four separate places in the Champions League match against Marseille this week.

The South Korean went down clutching his face after colliding with the shoulder of Chancel Mbemba and was taken off before the half-hour mark in the key European clash.

The Telegraph now claim that Son will undergo surgery on Friday but will not know whether he is ruled out of the World Cup until after the procedure is complete.

The surgery was brought forward to help his World Cup chances, but Son is said to be almost certain to miss Tottenham’s remaining three matches.

Son was due to lead South Korea into the international tournament in Qatar in November, as they face off against Uruguay, Ghana, and Portugal for a place in the knockouts. It is safe the say the entire country will be holding its breath and hoping their superstar is able to take to the field.

It has been suggested that Son could play football with an eye mask following his surgery (Alasdair Gold) but it remains to be seen how the procedure goes tomorrow.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I imagine Son will return just in time for the World Cup and will play with an eye mask. However, it is certainly not ideal playing with pain and a voice in the back of your head every time you go up for a header. We wish Sonny all the best and a speedy recovery!
