Report provides Nuno Espirito Santo update amid Spurs manager links

The Athletic have revealed that rumoured Spurs managerial target, Nuno Espirito Santo has shown no indication that he is ready to leave Wolves this summer.

If the speculation over recent days is to be believed, Brendan Rodgers appears to be Tottenham’s number one target to replace Jose Mourinho at the helm.

However, the North London club are said to be aware that they face an uphill battle to convince the Leicester boss to leave the King Power Stadium.

Young, up and coming managers like Scott Parker and Graham Potter, and more experienced campaigners like Rafa Benitez and Massimiliano Allegri have also been linked with the Spurs hot seat.

However, it was Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo who was one of the first names mooted as a Mourinho replacement, with previous reports suggesting that the 47-year-old is admired by the Tottenham hierarchy.

The Athletic have now claimed that the Wolves boss has shown no intention of leaving Molineux Stadium this summer despite what has been a frustrating season.

It is said that Nuno’s relationship with Wolves’ ownership Fosun International remains strong and the Portuguese coach is expected to be at the club for what would be his fifth season in charge.

The report terms the links with the Spurs vacancy as “spurious” and suggests that Espirito Santo will honour his contract with the West Midlands club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Nuno and Hasenhuttl would have likely been the leading contenders for the Spurs job if Mourinho had lost his job five or six months ago. However, Wolves and Southampton’s struggles have led to both of their stocks dropping considerably. My biggest reservation with Nuno has always been the programmatic manner in which sets his teams up.
