Report provides positive injury update on Tottenham midfielder this week

Club Doria 46 have released a new report with an update on Harry Winks’ injury status, which claims he has completed his first training session without any pain.

Winks, who worked his way through the Tottenham Hotspur academy and youth squads, has 203 appearances for the club to his name (Transfermarkt) but has found himself surplus to requirements since Antonio Conte’s arrival.

The midfielder joined Italian side Sampdoria on a season-long loan in the summer, but has failed to make an appearance for the club so far due to an ankle injury.

Winks had surgery on the injury in November and was expected to be out until February 2023 (TuttoMercatoWeb), but reportedly had some involvement in a training session last week (CalcioMercatoWeb).

The frustration at this injury has caused some to suggest Sampdoria will look to renegotiate the terms of the loan agreement (SampNews24) and Club Doria 46 even claimed yesterday that the club could terminate the loan in January.

There is more positive news today though, as the same outlet report that Winks has completed a training session and appears to be pain-free, giving Sampdoria boss Dejan Stankovic fresh hope of getting some game time out of the 26-year-old.

The report details how Winks is training separately from the group at large, partaking in activities with Andrea Conti and Gonzalo Villar at the Sampdoria training camp in Turkey.

It is believed that this positive development can be “good news for Sampdoria and for the boy’s future,” at the club, but it all depends on how his “physical condition” improves in the coming weeks.

Great news for Winksy, and hopefully the first big step on a path to making his impact over in Serie A. If he can get back to full fitness for the New Year and start to get some minutes under his belt, he will flourish out there I’m sure.
