Report provides positive update on Spurs midfielder’s return from injury

SampNews24 have revealed that Harry Winks could make his debut for Sampdoria as early as January.

Winks has endured an extremely frustrating six months since completing a loan switch to Sampdoria in the summer, with an ankle injury keeping him sidelined.

The 26-year-old eventually decided to have surgery last month to fix the issue and was initially expected to be out of action for a couple of months (TuttoMercatoWeb).

However, there have been some positive updates regarding the midfielder over recent weeks, with ClubDoria46 reporting recently that he has started training separately from his teammates.

SampNews24 have now also suggested that Winks’ recovery is ahead of schedule, with the publication stating that his rehabilitation time is ‘getting shorter’.

The report explains that the England international will play no part in the friendlies over the coming weeks and will spend his Christmas holidays with his family in London before returning to Italy to ‘continue his treatment’.

SampNews24 assert that barring any setbacks, the on-loan Tottenham man could make his Sampdoria debut sometime between January and February.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is fantastic news as Winks must be chomping at the bit to get some minutes under the belt after what must have been an extremely frustrating few months. The 26-year-old will take time to work up to full match fitness but he is more than capable of leaving his mark on the Serie A in the final few months of the campaign.
