Report provides positive update on Tottenham midfielder’s injury recovery

Calciomercato have revealed that Harry Winks has joined his Sampdoria teammates at their training camp in Turkey.

Winks has had an extremely frustrating season, with the midfielder not having made the matchday squad on a single occasion since his loan move to Sampdoria in the summer due to an ankle injury.

The 26-year-old eventually decided to have surgery last month to fix the issue and is expected to be out of action until February (TuttoMercatoWeb).

Reports in the Italian press over recent weeks have indicated that Sampdoria could look to renegotiate the terms of the loan deal with Spurs in light of the midfielder’s injury issues (SampNews24).

Calciomercato’s latest update seems to suggest that Winks’ recovery is going well, with the publication revealing that the on-loan Spurs was part of the group of players who travelled to Turkey as part of their tour of friendlies ahead of the resumption of the Serie A campaign.

The report explains that the England international ‘wanted to give a signal’ to show how much of a priority it is for him to become match-fit and get out onto the field. It is revealed that Winks himself insisted on travelling to Turkey with his Sampdoria teammates.

Winks is clearly determined to do the utmost to get back onto the field as soon as possible. One would hope that the surgery puts an end to the midfielder’s ongoing ankle issues so that he can get minutes under his belt in the second half of the campaign and get his career back on track.
