Report provides positive update on when Conte will return to Spurs dugout

A new report from the Daily Mail suggests Tottenham Hotspur boss will fly back to the UK today and could be in line to return to the touchline for the next Premier League game against Leicester City at the weekend.

Conte had been suffering with abdominal pains and the club announced last week that the Italian would be heading to his homeland for surgery to remove his gallbladder after he was diagnosed with cholecystitis.

The 53-year-old revealed on Instagram that the surgery had been a success and thanked fans for their support. There was even speculation that Conte could be in the stands for the Manchester City game last weekend (Evening Standard) but that wasn’t the case.

Assistant manager Cristian Stellini was in charge for the City game and oversaw a 1-0 win, with Harry Kane scoring the only goal to secure all three points for Spurs. Stellini has been on press conference duty, too, but it is thought his time in the hot seat may be over by the weekend.

The latest from the Daily Mail claims Conte is flying back to the UK after his period of recovery in Turin. The report does insist that it is not clear how involved Conte will be upon his arrival, with training and preparation for the game against Leicester still to be carried out.

However, it is hoped that Conte will be well enough to at least be seated in the dugout for the clash at the King Power stadium.

I have a feeling that, if Conte is indeed back in the country, it would take a hell of a lot to stop him from being back on the touchline at the weekend. He will have to take it easy, and it’s probably best if he takes a hands-off approach to training, but his presence in the dugout would be huge.
