Report provides Spurs and Arsenal update on Djed Spence this summer

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to beat their North London rivals Arsenal to Middlesbrough starlet Djed Spence.

Previous reports have indicated that Spence, who has had a stellar campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest, is Tottenham’s top target this summer for the right wing-back role (The Telegraph).

Alasdair Gold revealed on his YouTube channel last week that Spurs are expected to make a move for the 21-year-old irrespective of whether Forest win the Playoff Final on Sunday.

The Sun have now claimed that Boro plan to sell Spence to the highest bidder this summer.

Arsenal are thought to be one of the right-back’s admirers but it is said that Spurs hope to beat the Gunners to the player’s signature.

The report suggests that Conte is happy to let Emerson Royal leave and wants to replace the Brazilian with Spence.

The England Under-21 international, who is allegedly valued at £15m, is also thought to be of interest to Bayern Munich and Brentford.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing Spence would be a no-brainer for Spurs, given that he seems like a natural fit to play as a right wing-back, is homegrown, and is relatively inexpensive due to the fact that he has only 12 months left on his deal at the Riverside Stadium.

So, I am convinced that we will push hard to land the 21-year-old this summer. The only question is who among Doherty and Emerson is sacrificed, and that could well depend on the kind of offers both players attract this summer.
