Report provides update on Alessandro Bastoni, Spurs ‘danger’ and Inter Milan

InterLive.it have now suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are the biggest threat to Inter Milan’s hopes of tying down Alessandro Bastoni to a new contract

Spurs are expected to sign a left-sided centre-back during the summer transfer window, with reports over recent weeks indicating that Bastoni is one of the players on the North London club’s radar (Q&A for Football.London).

The 23-year-old’s current contract at the San Siro runs out in 2024 and it has emerged recently that Inter have opened talks over a new deal with the player’s agent (Fabrizio Romano).

InterLive have now shed light on those negotiations, revealing that the Nerazzurri have offered to raise the centre-back’s salary from €4m (£3.5m) to €4.5m (£3.9m) while the defender is demanding €6m (£5.3m).

Spurs are named as the ‘greatest danger’ for Inter as the Lilywhites could be willing to offer Bastoni €7m (£6.1m) if he agrees to move to N17.

The report adds that it is ‘no secret’ that Antonio Conte is keen on taking his compatriot to Tottenham.

However, it is explained that the Serie A club are keen to avoid losing Bastoni and hope to make progress in the meeting that they have scheduled with the player’s agent on March 14.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Tottenham will be able to offer a considerably higher salary than Inter could, particularly given the Serie A club’s financial issues.

However, I still suspect that the Nerazzurri hierarchy will be able to find some sort of compromise with the player’s entourage.

I also doubt if Bastoni would be keen to come to Spurs if Conte is no longer in charge at North London, which looks like a real possibility.
