Report provides update on Anthony Gordon’s Everton future amidst Spurs interest

According to The Northern Echo, Everton have now opened talks with Anthony Gordon over a new contract after Tottenham and Newcastle expressed interest in the winger.

It was previously reported by Football.London that Spurs showed an interest in Gordon while negotiating with Everton over Richarlison.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Spurs cooled their interest in the winger after the Toffees informed the Lilywhites that he was not for sale.

Newcastle have also been linked with the 21-year-old (90 min), who won many admirers after breaking into the Toffees’ first-team last season.

The Northern Echo have now explained that Frank Lampard is determined to do all he can to hold on to Gordon after losing Richarlison to Spurs.

The Everton boss has allegedly urged the club’s owners not to sell the academy graduate, with the Toffees said to have informed Newcastle that the youngster is not for sale.

The report adds that the Merseyside club’s hierarchy have already opened talks to increase Gordon’s current salary and tie down his long-term future.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite Everton not being able to spend this summer without selling players due to FFP constraints, I cannot see them cashing in on Gordon. Selling the youngster would cause outrage among the Goodison Park faithful and would create a toxic atmosphere at the club ahead of the new campaign.
