Report provides update on Barcelona’s chase for Spurs’ Tanguy Ndombele

Barcelona are still expecting Tottenham to sell Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to the latest reports from Spain.

Over the past few weeks, the Catalan giants have been heavily linked with a move for the Spurs midfielder, who has endured a disappointing first season in North London (Mundo Deportivo).

Sky Sports previously claimed that Barcelona were willing to offer Samuel Umtiti and Nelsen Semedo to Tottenham in exchange for Ndombele, as they can’t afford to pay Spurs’ asking price in cash.

However, other reports have suggested that Tottenham have no intention of moving the Frenchman on this summer as they believe he can turn his form around (Mirror).

Spanish publication Sport now claims that the Catalans still haven’t given up hope of snapping up the 23-year-old.

It is suggested that the La Liga giants have been long-term admirers of the Spurs star and wanted to sign him when he was still at Lyon.

They claim that the midfielder’s relationship with Jose Mourinho is still frosty and that Ndombele will be one of the players to leave North London this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

This report from Sport doesn’t mention if Barcelona can afford Ndombele or if they are still hoping to do a swap deal. I cannot see them being able to pay Spurs’ asking price for Ndombele. Swap deals, especially involving multiple players moving one way, rarely ever come off.
