Report provides update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Nagelsmann amid Spurs links

The Times have revealed that Tottenham target, Julian Nagelsmann had a face-to-face meeting with Chelsea last Thursday to discuss the vacancy at Stamford Bridge.

Some reports have indicated over the last couple of weeks that Nagelsmann remains Tottenham’s top target and the North London club are determined to do all they can to win the race for the German (Football Insider).

SportBild claimed on Friday that the recently departed Bayern Munich boss had turned down Spurs’ advances but The Mirror revealed on the same day that Tottenham had ‘poured scorn’ over those suggestions, with the Lilywhites said to be keen on making a big statement with their managerial hire.

The Times have now revealed that Nagelsmann met with Chelsea’s co-Sporting Directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, last week.

The report explains that the 35-year-old is also interested in the ‘expected vacancy’ at Real Madrid in the summer while he might have an eye on the Paris Saint-Germain job, which could soon open up.

The Times add that Nagelsmann’s availability has been complicated by the severance package he agreed upon with Bayern after departing last month.

It appears as if Nagelsmann wants to wait until the summer to see if the Real Madrid job opens up, which is why Tottenham would likely be looking at contingency options at the moment.

Curiously, the names that have been the most heavily linked over recent weeks are candidates such as Vincent Kompany and Arne Slot, who do not have any Premier League experience.
