Hampshire Live have reported that Southampton are ‘confident’ that Danny Ings will sign a new contract with the club this summer.

The news outlet claim that Southampton have insisted that Ings will remain with the Premier League side next season no matter what.

Ings currently has just 12 months remaining on his current Southampton contract, meaning that he would be available for a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

Reports have previously indicated that Tottenham have explored the possibility of signing Ings this summer as his contract ticks down.

However, Football London’s Alasdair Gold reported that Danny Ings himself has no desire to be a back-up to Harry Kane, meaning a move to depend on the England captain’s future.

TransferMarkt claim that Ings is currently worth around £20m after scoring 13 goals and assisting four in 33 games across all competitions last season.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Ings would be a class signing for Spurs this summer as he could play alongside Kane or instead of him for cup/European games. However, as an out-and-out replacement, I would want someone younger, with a better injury record and higher ceiling.
