Report provides update on Dejan Kulusevski ahead of Spurs vs Newcastle

The Evening Standard have revealed that Dejan Kulusevski remains a doubt for Tottenham’s clash against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Tottenham will look to put their disappointing loss against Manchester United behind them when they take to the field against Newcastle this weekend.

Spurs have a perfect home record so far this season and will be hoping that they can build on that against the Magpies, who have made a good start to the season and currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.

Antonio Conte’s men will be without Richarlison, who picked up a hamstring injury in the 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last week.

Emerson Royal will be available for selection, with the Brazilian now having served his three-match suspension following his red card in the North London derby.

However, The Evening Standard have revealed that Spurs might still be without Kulusevski for the visit of the Magpies, with the Swede not having featured for the Lilywhites since before last month’s international break.

The report states that Conte does not wish to take risks with the winger, who is nursing a niggling hamstring injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

Conventional wisdom would suggest that Conte will continue with a 3-5-2 if Kulusevski is not passed fit for the game, particularly with Richarlison also not available.

However, given how unorganised we looked at Old Trafford, perhaps the Spurs boss will be tempted to revert to a 3-4-3 just to give an element of familiarity for the players on their roles.
