Report provides update on future of Spurs-linked Marcel Sabitzer

CalcioMercato have claimed that Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are both challenging Tottenham Hotspur in their rumoured pursuit of Marcel Sabitzer.

Sabitzer has been a long-term target for Tottenham, having been linked with a move to the club during the January transfer window.

It was reported back in April that Tottenham were already laying the groundwork for a summer deal for Sabitzer and Alasdair Gold has backed the North Londoners to compete for the Austrian international’s signature.

Sport Bild reported last week that Borussia Dortmund are eyeing a move for the RB Leipzig star.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that AC Milan are also keen on landing Sabitzer, with Stefano Pioli identifying the Austrian as the man to replace Hakan Calhanoglu.

The report asserts that Sabitzer ‘likes’ the idea of joining the Rossoneri this summer but that Leipzig still have not given up hope that the midfielder will extend his contract.

It is also said that despite the former Rapid Wein man’s release clause standing at €50m (£42.7m), he could leave for half that amount this summer if he does not sign a new deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I fully expected us to make an attempt to sign Sabitzer this summer until Jose was in charge. However, I am not so sure if Nuno would be asking for the midfielder since the Portuguese coach does not tend to play with a number ten. Tottenham’s decision on Sabitzer could also come down to what Nuno decides regarding Dele Alli.
