Report provides update on Harry Winks transfer situation as player seeks exit

According to The Evening Standard, Harry Winks is not currently close to completing a transfer away from Tottenham this summer.

Winks is said to be desperate to depart N17 this summer in search of first-team playing opportunities.

The 26-year-old was limited to just nine starts in the Premier League last season (TransferMarkt), with Antonio Conte prioritising a midfield pairing consisting of two of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Oliver Skipp.

The £25 million acquisition of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma only adds to the chances of Winks remaining rooted to the Spurs bench should he stay at his boyhood club next season (Sky Sports).

Both Everton and Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Winks this summer, with a number of La Liga clubs also tracking the midfielder (Evening Standard).

However, as things stand, The Standard claim that Winks is not close to negotiating a move away from North London.

As well as Winks, Conte is said to be willing to allow a number of Spurs players to follow Bergwijn’s exit this summer. Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Emerson Royal, Sergio Reguilon, and Joe Rodon are all thought to be available should Spurs receive the fees that they are looking for (Evening Standard).

Spurs Web Opinion

I was apprehensive about letting Bergwijn go as he clearly has potential and has delivered us some great moments, however, I trust Conte’s judgement more than my own.

Winks would make a very handy player for a number of Premier League clubs and it seems the right time for him to make a move for the sake of his own career.
