Report provides update on Hugo Lloris contract situation at Tottenham

L’Equipe have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris wants to extend his contract at the club.

Lloris has been in excellent form over the last two years but there is a question mark about his future at North London, with the goalkeeper’s current contract running out at the end of the season.

However, multiple sources have revealed that the Lilywhites are likely to offer the Frenchman an extension over the coming weeks.

The Athletic reported recently there is a ‘quiet confidence’ the club will be able to agree on a new deal with the 34-year-old.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold claimed a few days ago that Antonio Conte has made it clear to the club he wants to keep hold of the experienced goalkeeper.

L’Equipe have now backed up that claim, stating that Conte sees Lloris as being central to his plans moving forward.

The report states that the former Lyon man wants to remain with Spurs beyond the end of the season. It is explained that while there have been ‘informal’ talks between the parties over a contract, Tottenham are yet to make a ‘concrete’ offer to Lloris.

Since it sounds like there is a willingness from both parties to strike a deal, one would expect the talks to progress quickly over the coming weeks.

This is certainly a huge plus for Spurs as I believe Lloris has been among the best in the world over recent years, with the Frenchman seemingly having completed eliminated the occasional lapses in concentration he used to suffer from.
