Report provides update on immediate future of Joe Rodon amidst loan interest

Joe Rodon is expected to remain at Tottenham beyond the January transfer deadline despite interest in a loan deal from a number of Premier League clubs, as per the Evening Standard.

Rodon, 24, has found opportunities at Spurs hard to come by since securing a move to North London from Swansea in October 2020.

He has yet to make a single start in the Premier League this term, while he has managed just seven appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

It was reported in December that the likes of Newcastle, Watford, Leeds and Brighton had all taken an interest in signing the centre-back (The Telegraph).

However, despite speculation regarding an exit for Rodon, the Evening Standard report Spurs expect the Wales international to remain at the club beyond January.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Brighton have been keeping tabs on Rodon as a potential replacement for Dan Burn, who is edging closer to a move to Newcastle (The Guardian) ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Unless injuries and suspensions wreak havoc on Tottenham’s defence, it’s difficult to see how Rodon gets much game time in the remaining part of the campaign. A move away was heavily touted this month and at the moment it seems Brighton is the likeliest destination, but it seems a big offer will be needed to tempt Spurs.
