Report provides update on Joe Rodon situation as end of transfer window looms

Sky Sports report that Tottenham Hotspur have not received a concrete offer for Joe Rodon during this transfer window.

Rodon has made just two starts since Antonio Conte took over as Tottenham boss at the start of November – one in the Europa Conference League defeat to NS Mura and the other in the FA Cup third-round tie against Morecambe.

Despite the Spurs head coach previously insisting that he sees the Welshman as being Eric Dier’s cover in the central role in his back three (Football London), the former Swansea man did not get opportunities even when Dier was out injured.

The Telegraph reported last month that Newcastle and Brighton were interested in snapping up the 24-year-old.

However, if Sky Sports’ recent update is to be believed, neither club have shown interest in Rodon so far this window.

The report explains that while Tottenham have decided to keep Japhet Tanganga, they are open to letting Rodon leave on loan before Monday’s deadline.

However, it is stated that the Wales international ‘does not currently have a concrete option’.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is a misconception among sections of Spurs fans that Rodon is still young and has time to develop. In reality, he is two years older than Tanganga and just a year younger than Davinson Sanchez.

So, the fact that multiple Spurs managers have not considered him to be good enough, suggests that he is not quite up to the standard required.

If the 24-year-old was as talented as some fans think he is, one would also have expected plenty of Premier League clubs to be lining up to sign him this month, which has not happened.
