Report provides update on Man United’s alleged Pochettino pursuit

The Daily Star have asserted that former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has now emerged as Manchester United’s number one target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer has come under a lot of pressure since United were thumped 5-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

The Norwegian is expected to be in charge of the Red Devils for their clash against Spurs on Saturday but there is now plenty of speculation linking the likes of Antonio Conte and Pochettino with the Old Trafford hot seat.

ESPN claimed yesterday that while United do hold an interest in Pochettino, the 49-year-old is ‘not expected to be available anytime soon’

The Daily Star have now revealed that Pochettino’s is Man United’s preferred choice to replace Solskjaer.

The report explains that the Argentine is the man wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson, who is a fan of the former Spurs boss’ style of play.

However, it is stated that it could prove difficult to prise Pochettino away from Paris Saint-Germain.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am desperately hoping that United get Conte rather than Pochettino so that the possibility of the Argentine returning to Spurs at the end of the season remains alive.

If United get the 49-year-old, I believe he will make them a force to be reckoned with in less than 12 months, given the squad that has been assembled at Old Trafford.
