Report provides update on Oliver Skipp injury and whether he could face Roma

Oliver Skipp suffered a foot injury during training and is expected to be a doubt for Tottenham’s final pre-season friendly against Roma, according to Football.London.

The 21-year-old midfielder experienced the problem on Friday which will likely keep him out of the upcoming encounter in Isreal this Saturday against Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, providing the injury subsides over the next week, the report added Skipp will be expected to push to feature in the Premier League opener against Southampton on August 6.

Reports revealed Skipp suffered a ‘minor’ setback ahead of Saturday’s 2-1 win at Rangers but clarified it was not related to the pelvic injury which kept him out for the majority of last season (Football.London).

The England U21 international had been enjoying a strong campaign after a successful loan spell at Norwich before the injury kept him out of Spurs’ final 18 games of the season (Transfermarkt).

After undergoing surgery to correct the problem in April, Skipp reported for pre-season training at Hotspur Way early alongside Matt Doherty and Japhet Tanganga (Football London).

This is less than ideal for Skipp and Antonio Conte but the update doesn’t seem to be too worrying at the moment. Hopefully, his foot is able to recover over the next couple of weeks so he is able to get himself in contention to feature against Southampton.
