Report provides update on Real Madrid’s thoughts on Sergio Reguilon future

Defensa Central have reported that Real Madrid are not interested in buying Sergio Reguilon back from Tottenham Hotspur after he transferred to North London last summer.

It was reported at the time that Madrid had the ability to activate a buy-back clause for Reguilon in the summers of 2021 or 2022 for around £43m.

The report claims that sources within the Spanish club have told them that Real Madrid are extremely happy with the progress shown by Miguel Gutierrez.

Gutierrez is a 19-year-old left-back who has broken into the first-team this season and has even been given chances of minutes on the pitch.

The report says that Madrid are confident that the young full-back will eventually become a better player than Sergio Reguilon and, therefore, as long as he remains at the club, they will have no interest in bringing the Spurs man back.

It is also outlined that Madrid will block any moves for Gutierrez this summer as they are counting on him for the future.

Therefore, if Defensa Central are to be believed, it seems as though Sergio Reguilon could be staying put in North London for the time being.
