Report provides update on Serge Aurier’s potential move away from Spurs

Football Insider have reported that Tottenham still expect to sell Serge Aurier before the summer transfer window slams shut tomorrow.

The Ivory Coast right-back has not yet appeared in any of Nuno Espirito Santo’s five Tottenham Premier League or Conference League squads.

Tottenham agreeing a fee with Barcelona for Emerson Royal has allegedly opened the door for Aurier to leave before the Tuesday deadline.

The defender only has one year remaining on his current Spurs contract and, therefore, could potentially leave on a free transfer next summer.

Spurs have already been clearing out their older players this summer, with Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Paulo Gazzaniga, Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko all having left.

It is said that Nuno is on the lookout for a more reliable right-back as he reshapes his Tottenham squad, which seems to go hand in hand with Aurier leaving the club.

Spurs Web Opinion:

For all involved, including Aurier, this deal needs to happen. His time is up in North London and if he wants to kickstart his career, he needs a move now, rather than sitting in the reserves for a season and leaving next summer. I also expect him to leave today/tomorrow.
