Report provides update on Sergio Reguilon’s injury ahead of Spurs v Newcastle

Sky Sports have revealed that Sergio Reguilon faces a race against time to be fit for Tottenham’s clash against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Reguilon went off with a knock just before the hour mark in Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Villa Park two weeks ago, with Ben Davies coming on to help the North Londoners see out the win.

The left-back took to social media after the match to assure supporters that he was fine.

The former Real Madrid man, who was left out of Spain’s squad for their World Cup Qualifiers, is currently recovering at Hotspur Way.

Sky Sports state that, although Reguilon is back doing light training, he is yet to resume full sessions with the Spurs players who are not on international duty.

Reguilon’s potential absence could pose Jose Mourinho a massive headache for Tottenham’s trip to St James’ Park, with Davies already withdrawing from the Wales squad with a significant injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

We need plenty of width if we are going to stretch Newcastle, who will be happy to sit back with numbers behind the ball. So, Reguilon’s pace down the left flank could be crucial to helping us break down the Magpies. If both Reguilon and Davies are unavailable for the clash, I expect Mourinho to start Tanganga at left-back.
