Report provides update on Spurs’ Hojbjerg pursuit as they are ‘edging closer’ to deal

Sky Sports have reported that Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to agreeing on a deal with Southampton to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.

Reports over the past few weeks have hinted that an offer from Everton for the midfielder may have complicated the deal for Spurs (Eurosport journalist, Calin Mates).

However, Sky Sports maintain that the North Londoners are the favourites for the 24-year-old’s signature. The report claims that Tottenham have offered £15million for Hojbjerg, who just has a year to run on his contract at the St Mary’s.

Southampton are said to be holding out for around £25m for the Dane this summer but Spurs are said to be hopeful they can strike a deal, with Kyle Walker-Peters potentially going the other way.

It is said that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are keen to snap up Walker-Peters as long as the price is right, although they have also identified West Ham’s Ryan Fredericks as an alternative.

The report reveals that Everton have made a £19m offer for Hojbjerg this summer but the midfielder’s preference remains to move to Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

A cash plus Kyle Walker-Peters offer for Hojbjerg is one that suits all parties. The Dane has made it clear that he wants to leave and Southampton have no choice but to let him go, with just a year left on his contract. They would want to sign Walker-Peters on the back of his performances since the restart. It is now only a question of two clubs being able to agree on a fee. That might take quite a while as they seemingly have to agree on the valuations of two players, not just one.
