Report provides update on Spurs-linked Dusan Vlahovic and his contract

Gazzetta dello Sport have reported this week that Dusan Vlahovic’s representatives have postponed any new contract talks until the end of 2021 (as relayed by Sport Witness).

It is said that such a delay could put Fiorentina under pressure as the Serbian striker would have just 18 months left on his current deal.

As such, the report claims ‘Fiorentina would have great difficulty keeping him and possibly collecting the €70m-80m (£61m-£69m) of his minimum valuation’.

Gazzetta dello Sport go on to say that the problem has always been and remains to be the release clause in Vlahovic’s contract, which his agents do not want to raise over €60m (£52m).

Fiorentina are allegedly not keen on this as both Tottenham and Atletico Madrid already showed interest in Vlahovic at a similar price in the summer. As such, they want to increase the release clause to give them more protection.

Vlahovic was linked with Spurs in the summer and Alasdair Gold even reported that the Fiorentina striker was Fabio Paratici’s top striker target.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It appears that Vlahovic and his team want to guarantee a move next summer, meaning they want to be available for an affordable price. Fiorentina, on the other hand, know he is in demand and want top dollar for him. I’m sure a compromise will be reached.
