Report provides update on Tottenham’s chances of signing Josko Gvardiol

According to RB Live, Tottenham Hotspur are ‘extremely unlikely’ to snap up RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol this summer.

Gvardiol has been a mainstay in the Leipzig backline this season and the 20-year-old’s impressive performances have also seen him become a regular in Croatia’s senior set-up.

The Athletic reported last week that Spurs are set to prioritise a move for a left-sided centre-back to offer competition to Ben Davies when the transfer window opens in the summer.

It was revealed that Gvardiol was one of the options on the North London club’s radar and that it might take a club-record transfer fee for Conte’s men to snap up the Leipzig star.

RB Live have now poured cold water over the speculation, insisting that the centre-back is not likely to be on the move this summer.

The report claims that Gvardiol currently has no intention of leaving the Bundesliga club, given how well he has been developing under Domenico Tedesco.

It is asserted that even an offer of more than €50m (£41.7m) from Spurs might not be enough to convince Leipzig to let the defender go.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear from The Athletic’s report as well as from the one on RB Live that it is going to take a mammoth offer for Spurs to sign Gvardiol this summer. So, perhaps that suggests that Paratici will turn his attentions to the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Sven Botman or Nico Schlotterbeck instead.
