According to Tuttosport (25/11/12 as relayed by FCInterNews and Sport Witness), Inter Milan could decide to do a U-turn and sell Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham if the North London club make a substantial offer for the centre-back in January.
Tottenham’s pursuit of Bastoni during the summer transfer window proved unsuccessful but reports from Italy have backed the Premier League club to reignite their interest in the 23-year-old.
Inter Live even reported last month that Antonio Conte’s men are willing to pay €50m (£43.7m) for the 23-year-old’s services next summer.
Alasdair Gold suggested on his YouTube channel a couple of days ago that while Tottenham might enquire about the Italy international, he can not see Inter letting the player go in January.
Tuttosport have now stated that Conte remains ‘very interested’ in reuniting with Bastoni at Spurs, who have been backed to ‘try again’ for the player.
The report explains that although the Serie A club do not intend to sell the centre-back in January, the situation could change if Tottenham present an ‘indecent’ offer. Tuttosport also add that the player himself has a strong desire to remain at San Siro despite Spurs’ interest.
Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot see Spurs exploring a move for Bastoni or any other left-sided centre-back during the January transfer window. A right-sided centre-back, a right wing-back and potentially an attacker are likely to be Antonio Conte’s top priorities.
