Report provides update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Antonio Nusa

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead in their attempts to secure the signing of Antonio Nusa this month, as The Standard reports the North London club remain in talks with Club Brugge regarding the transfer and are keen to beat their rivals to a deal.

Just last week, it emerged Tottenham were hot on the trail of Antonio Nusa, with The Athletic claiming the 18-year-old was the subject of a potential €30m (£25.7m) deal that would see him remain with Club Brugge on loan until the end of the season.

However, Spurs are not alone in their interest, with Alasdair Gold suggesting Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the hunt for the Norwegian winger (Football.London).

It was recently reported that the Lilywhites were keen to move fast to wrap up the transfer before other teams could usurp them (Daily Mirror). And, according to the latest from Fabrizio Romano at the end of last week, ‘new contacts’ had been lined up by Spurs with a view to getting this move over the line.

Spurs one step closer to Nusa deal

Now, the latest update comes from The Standard, who claim talks are continuing between Tottenham and Club Brugge, with a suggestion that Spurs are wary of being beaten to the signature of the promising winger.

The report reiterates that the two clubs “remain in talks” and the notion of Nusa being loaned back to Brugge immediately still appears to be the plan if a deal goes ahead.

It is said Spurs are keen to “want to steal a march on their rivals” by acquiring Nusa this month, but there is a fear they will “face competition” for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am optimistic we can get this deal resolved before the window closes and I’m not necessarily worried about other teams coming in for him, as it seems we’ve a fair bit of pulling power of late. Obviously, we will have to wait a while before we would get to see Nusa playing for Spurs, but the prospect of him being involved in this Postecoglou system—hopefully for years to come—is a tantalising one.
