Report provides update on Weston McKennie situation amid Spurs links

Reports out of Italy suggest Juventus are looking to ‘make room’ in their squad for a big summer signing, which could clear the path for alleged Tottenham Hotspur target Weston McKennie to leave the club.

The rumours linking the USA international to North London have persisted for a while now (TuttoMercatoWeb) and it has emerged recently that Juventus would be willing to let McKennie move on (Il Bianconero).

The 24-year-old has been with the Serie A giants since last summer, and despite a strong start to this season with three goals in 16 games (Transfermarkt), it’s looking increasingly likely McKennie will be deemed surplus to requirements at the Turin club.

Last week, CalcioMercato claimed Tottenham’s Managing Director of Football, Fabio Paratici had an ‘obsession’ when it comes to McKennie. They even put a price tag on his head, ranging between €25-30 million.

The publication had already highlighted McKennie as a potential January transfer window target for Spurs, but new information appears to suggest an added motivation for Juventus to sell the player.

According to CalcioMercato, Juventus are very keen on signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić in the summer of 2023. To make that happen, they need funds, and that’s where McKennie could come into play.

Apparently, Juventus would need to “make room” for Milinkovic-Savic. They will first do this by cancelling the deal to sign Leandro Paredes from PSG. After that, “the real big goal is to sell McKennie for €25-30 million”, which is something the Italian club are “working towards.”

These rumours do not seem to be going away, and it sounds like all parties would be very happy to strike a deal. With Juventus increasingly desperate to move McKennie on, there’s every chance that Fabio Paratici could work his magic and bring that price down, too.
