Report provides update on whether Newcastle will move for Danny Rose this summer

The Shields Gazette have now revealed that Newcastle United are assessing other options beyond Danny Rose this summer.

The report claims that the Magpies remain in the market for a new left-back but are now extending their net, despite taking Rose on loan last season.

Rose joined Newcastle in the January transfer window and went on to feature nine times for the Premier League club during the second half of the season.

The England defender has been on Tottenham’s books for the past 12 years, appearing for the Lilywhites 214 times across 10 different seasons (Wikipedia).

Rose recently claimed that his ‘Tottenham days are numbered’ and that he was playing for his future at Newcastle United (Goal).

In late 2019, the defender also revealed that he intended to let his contract run down, a deal that ends following the 2020/21 season (Guardian).

Despite this, Rose claimed last month that he would love to play for Tottenham this season and desires to walk out in front of the Spurs fans again (Independent).

The Shields Gazette report that Newcastle have now made a £4m offer for 24-year-old Greek left-back, Giannoulis (reinforced by Sky Sports).
