Report provides update on whether Real Madrid want Sergio Reguilon to return

Over the course of the season, Sergio Reguilon has continued to go from the strength to strength in a Spurs shirt. The Spaniard has seemingly adapted to life in the Premier League perfectly and is already a key figure in this Tottenham side.

Reguilon arrived from Real Madrid in the summer for around £25 million (Evening Standard), signing a five-year deal in North London. However, the Spanish giants do allegedly have the option of buying him back for an increased fee over a two-year period.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has made twenty appearances in all competitions for the club (TransferMarkt). The Spurs faithful have become accustomed to the Spaniard’s energy down the left and he already has five assists to his name this season.

The defensive abilities of Reguilon have also been on display, with the Spaniard winning a bet with Jose Mourinho following the shut-out of Riyad Mahrez and Manchester City in November – his prize, a £500 ham (Goal).

However, rumours have once again started to circulate over Real Madrid’s interest in the left-back. It has not been the best of starts in the league for the club, and Zinedine Zidane saw his side knocked out of the Spanish Cup to Alcoyano this month.

It is now being reported that Real Madrid would be willing to spend 45 million Euros to bring their countryman back to the club (Sport). However, such a deal would depend on whether Reguilon would want to leave London so soon.
