Report provides update on whether Spurs will now interview Nagelsmann

Despite reports over the weekend claiming Tottenham Hotspur may be looking at hiring Julian Nagelsmann again, it is thought their interest in the German coach is over at this stage.

Tottenham are in need of a new permanent manager to lead them into next season. The club parted ways with Antonio Conte in March, before sacking his former assistant Cristian Stellini after just four games as caretaker manager.

Ryan Mason is currently the Acting Head Coach at Spurs until the end of the season. The young coach has just one more game in charge before a full-time appointment is expected to be made.

As things stand, Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is believed to be the frontrunner in the race for the vacant managerial role (talkSPORT).

Former Bayern Munich manager Nagelsmann has been strongly linked with the job since he was dismissed by the German giants this year. However, the North London side seemingly ended their interest in the 35-year-old earlier this month (Evening Standard).

According to The Times, Spurs had begun to reconsider their position on Nagelsmann of late. Apparently, the promising young manager had even recommended a new director of football to Tottenham.

Now, the latest from the Evening Standard suggests Spurs are in fact not going to make an approach for Nagelsmann at all.

The report claims Nagelsmann “will not be interviewed” and that the club is sticking to its guns when it comes to their interest in the former Bayern boss.

Spurs Web Opinion

I still think we’re crazy for not hiring Nagelsmann, but I am very open to the idea of Slot taking over. Perhaps Nagelsmann would not be the right fit for what we need right now.

He’s a top-quality manager, but has a big reputation and I think we might be better off with a smaller name after what has happened with Conte and Mourinho in the last few years.
