Report: PSG also showed interest in man on the verge of joining Spurs

Fabio Paratici, who is set to join as Tottenham’s new director of football, was also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

Tottenham failed with their attempt to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club, with PSG digging the heals in to ensure that they could hold on to the Argentine.

If Aouna is to be believed, the two clubs may have also squared off for Paratici, although the journalist suggests that the Parisians were ‘only taking information’ about the Italian.

The former Juventus sporting director now looks set to join Spurs, with the likes of Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic indicating that it is a done deal.

However, PSG’s interest in the 48-year-old is quite a development since there is rumoured to have been a fallout between the club’s current sporting director Leonardo and Pochettino.

In fact, it has been suggested that Pochettino’s run-in with Leonardo was one of the main reasons the 49-year-old wanted to leave Paris and return to Spurs.

If PSG are looking for a new sporting director, that could suggest that the club are willing to back Pochettino over Leonardo, which could essentially rule out our chances of bringing Poch back.

However, the fact that Paratici was one of the names on their radar, suggests that the former Juve man was quite sought after and could turn out to be a smart acquisition for Spurs.
