Report: PSG favourites to land rumoured Tottenham defensive target

Paris Saint-Germain is likely to be Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly’s next club, according to reports.

Spanish news outlet El Desmarque reported last month that Tottenham were front runners to sign Koulibaly, but the 28-year-old ended up staying in Naples.

Il Mattino (as translated by the Daily Star) reported last week that that Spurs are still interested in the Senegal international and could make another approach for him in the summer.

While Spurs were said to be in a battle with Manchester United and Chelsea for the centre back, Sky Sports now reports that the Lilywhites are unlikely to move for Koulibaly due to the fact that the defender doesn’t have much of a resale value.

It is also suggested that the 29-year-old is likely to be quite expensive, with Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis known to drive a hard bargain.

The report claims that PSG are willing to offer the Senegal international £200,000 a week and so it is asserted that he will probably be playing his football in Paris next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some thought that the club would change their policy of buying predominantly young talent after the appointment of Jose Mourinho but if our January purchases are anything to go by, then that doesn’t seem to be the case. I believe we are much more likely to invest in someone like Nathan Ake who has Premier League experience and comes with high resale value.
