Report: PSG ‘favourites’ to sign 29-year-old linked with Spurs move

Spanish publication AS have reported (as relayed by Football.London) that Tottenham Hotspur target Lucas Vazquez could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Previous reports from Spain have claimed that Vazquez’s future lies away from the Spanish capital, with the wide man unable to reach an agreement with Real Madrid over a new contract.

With his contract set to run out in the summer, the 29-year-old is allowed to talk to other clubs on the continent.

Tottenham are one of the clubs credited with an interest in Vazquez, with sources suggesting that the Spanish international is keen on linking up Jose Mourinho in North London.

AS has now named Spurs and Arsenal as the two Premier League clubs who are ready to make a move for the Madrid star.

However, the report explains that former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also a fan of Vazquez and the PSG could be set to offer him a contract.

It is understandable why being able to snap up a player of Vazquez’s quality and experience on a free transfer would be an appealing prospect for Spurs given the club’s financial issues as well as our need for reinforcements ar right-back (where Vazquez has shone this season).

However, it might be Mourinho who is pushing for the club to sign the 29-year-old, having worked with him at Real Madrid in the past. It remains to be seen if Spurs would still be interested in the wide man if Jose does not survive until next season.
