Report: PSG interested in target Spurs allegedly agreed fee for this summer

According to Italian publication Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Le10Sport), Paris Saint-Germain could make a move for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Lautaro Martinez.

Spurs allegedly agreed on a €60m (£50.9m) fee for Martinez at the start of August but the deal fell through following Romelu Lukaku’s move to Chelsea, with Inter no longer needing the funds from the Argentine’s sale.

It was unclear whether Tottenham pursued Martinez as a potential replacement for Kane or to partner the 28-year-old but both the Argentina international and the England captain ended up staying put at their respective clubs.

Fabrizio Romano claimed two weeks ago that Inter Milan had rejected an offer of close to €70m (£60m) plus adds on for Martinez from Spurs, with the journalist also adding that the 24-year-old had agreed to extend his contract at the San Siro.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will renew their interest in Martinez in January but if Corriere Della Sera’s latest update is to be believed, the North London club could face competition from PSG for the forward.

The report explains that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have identified the Inter star as one of the potential replacements for Kylian Mbappe, if he is to leave the Ligue 1 giants in January or next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

The chances we would be returning for Martinez in January or next summer are quite remote. If the 24-year-old does put pen to paper on a new contract at the San Siro (which there is no confirmation of yet), then Inter’s asking price could will be around or over £100m, which will put him out of Tottenham’s reach.
