Report: PSG make Pochettino decision amidst Spurs return speculation

Le Parisien have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are set to sack Mauricio Pochettino and are prepared to offer the Argentine a huge pay-off.

PSG secured the Ligue 1 title over the weekend following their 1-1 draw at Lens but Pochettino’s future at the club is shrouded in doubt, with Le Parisian reporting last week that the club are on the lookout for a new head coach.

The report claimed Antonio Conte is one of the options on the Parisian’s shortlist and he is allegedly keen on jumping ship from Spurs.

Pochettino has been linked with a return to Tottenham, with Football Insider stating last month that the 50-year-old would jump at the chance to return to the North London club.

PSG sporting director Leanardo said last week that the club will have discussions with Pochettino at the end of the season to determine his future (Sky Sport Italia via Fabrizio Romano).

However, if Le Parisian’s latest update is to be believed, the decision has already been made.

The report claims that Pochettino no longer wants to continue at Parc des Princes while PSG also want a change at the top.

It is explained that the Ligue 1 giants would need to pay the former Spurs boss and his coaching staff €15m (£12.6m) to sack him since he has 12 months left on his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

If there is any truth behind reports suggesting Conte is keen on the PSG job (which is a big ‘if’), I would jump at the chance of having Pochettino back at Spurs.

I would rather have a manager who is fully committed to the club rather than one who is constantly looking over his shoulder and is not committed to staying for the long term.
