Report: PSG offered Spurs two players in talks over Ndombele deal

The Athletic have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain were willing to include centre-back Abdou Diallo and midfielder Ander Herrera in a potential deal to bring Tanguy Ndombele to Paris in January.

Ndombele completed a loan move to Lyon on transfer deadline day for a fee of €1.4m (£1.1m), with the Ligue 1 side having the option to make the deal permanent in the summer (OL).

However, for the majority of the January window, a move to PSG looked more likely for the 25-year-old.

With around a week left in the window, multiple sources (Julien Laurens and Fabrizio Romano) suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men were confident of signing the Spurs midfielder on loan.

The Frenchman’s move to Parc des Princes eventually fell through as PSG were not able to make space in the squad by offloading some of their current players (Julien Maynard).

The Athletic have now explained that the Parisians offered both Diallo and Herrera to Spurs as part of the Ndombele deal but the Lilywhites rejected the chance to sign either player.

The report adds that Spurs enquired about Leandro Paredes as a possible makeweight in the deal but the Argentine international was not interested in a move to North London.

Spurs Web Opinion

Diallo is more of a traditional left-back than a wing-back while Herrera would not have offered anything different to the likes of Hojbjerg or Skipp. So one can understand why Conte rejected the chance to sign either.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s interest in Paredes also makes sense, considering that Bentancur has quite a few similar qualities to the Argentine.
