Report: PSG pull out of race for 21-year-old wanted by Spurs

Tottenham’s prospects of landing Achraf Hakimi may have just received a boost as reports from France suggest that PSG are set to pull out of the race for the full-back.

Hakimi has enjoyed a terrific two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, during which time he has established himself as one of the best young right-backs in world football.

The pacey defender will return to Real Madrid this summer following the conclusion of his loan spell.

While Dortmund are said to be keen on extending Hakimi’s stay at the Westfalenstadion (AS), Spurs have also reportedly identified the defender as a target this summer (Bladi.net)

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich were also said to be interested in the Moroccan international (Daily Mail).

However, a report in Le Parisien (as relayed by TBR Football) now reveals that the PSG have pulled out of the race for the defender as they aren’t able to meet the £48 million asking price set by Madrid.

It is suggested that the Ligue 1 champions have taken a major financial hit this summer and will be spending most of their transfer budget to try and sign striker Mauro Icardi permanently.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t believe Hakimi is a target for us this summer. Based on the reports over the past couple of months, it seems like Max Aarons was our primary target. However, due to the financial impact of the pandemic, it looks as if we have shifted our attention to Thomas Meunier.
