Report: Wage demands likely to end any chance of Spurs landing PSG star

According to a report by The Independent, Tottenham are looking at a long list of strikers including PSG hitman Edinson Cavani in order to cope with the loss of injured star Harry Kane.

Cavani, who turns 33 next month is out of contract with the French giants in the summer and has struggled for game time following the arrival of Mauro Icardi along with having his own issues with injury (transfermarkt).

Kane has been ruled out of action until at least April and it is claimed that Jose Mourinho is keen on bolstering his options by bringing in two new forwards.

The Spurs head coach was reportedly already keen on bringing in a back up before Kane tore his hamstring against Southampton but now wants the club to an additional forward to cover for the England captain’s loss.

He is alleged to have informed the club’s hierarchy that he needs two forwards if the club are to have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League for the fifth season in a row.

AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek, Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, and former Spurs star Fernando Llorente are mentioned as options the club are looking at along with Cavani.

However, it is suggested that the PSG man’s wages could be a sticking point for any deal.

If it is true that Mourinho wants the club to bring in two forwards to cope with Kane’s loss, I would imagine that at least one of those would have to be a loan deal as we will be overstocked in the department once Kane is back to fitness. Perhaps that is why Spurs want Piatek as they know they can get him on loan.
