Report: PSG want Spurs star for free this summer, but Daniel Levy wants a fee

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as a surprise suitor for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this summer, and while the French club want the keeper on a free transfer, chairman Daniel Levy is keen to receive a fee for his player.

The Tottenham defence conceded 63 goals last season, and Lloris himself was responsible for a catalogue of errors throughout the campaign.

After the 36-year-old’s drastic decline last term, it comes as no surprise that finding a new goalkeeper was the first task on Ange Postecoglou’s list of priorities this summer.

Guglielmo Vicario signed for the Lilywhites last month and is expected to be the new number-one shot-stopper at Spurs.

With just one year left on his current contract, it has been widely suggested that Lloris will be let go this summer (Evening Standard).

The player himself has even admitted he is ready for a new challenge (Nice-Matin).

Lloris’ next destination is still unknown, but the latest reports reveal the player could be heading back to France to sign for PSG. That is, if the Ligue 1 giants can come to an agreement with Levy.

Sources at the Daily Record claim Lloris is wanted by PSG to be an “elite backup” to their current number one, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Apparently, Lloris’ representatives “hope to be granted a free transfer” this summer, but Levy will reportedly “seek a transfer fee” for the player.

Regardless, it is thought any approach from PSG is “dependent on Keylor Navas leaving” the club during the transfer window.

I do think we will eventually let Lloris leave for next to nothing, but I don’t blame Levy for trying to get a fee for him.

He’s still a top player and we shouldn’t let a club like PSG just come in and take him for nothing.
