Report: PSV tell Spurs how much they would have to pay for Madueke

According to The Sunday Mirror (22/8; page 74), PSV Eindhoven have informed Tottenham Hotspur that they would have to pay at least £40m for Noni Madueke.

Madueke came through the ranks in the Tottenham academy before moving to PSV in 2018.

The teenager established himself in the Eredivisie giants’ starting eleven last season, scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists and he has started this campaign in blistering fashion once again, having scored two goals in his first two league appearances.

Spurs are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing the 19-year-old back to North London in the summer and it was alleged that scouts from the Lilywhites were in attendance at the Phillips Stadium to watch Madueke in action against Benfica last week.

It was previously reported that PSV would only sell Madueke this summer if they received an offer of around £30m-£35m.

The Mirror have now alleged that the Dutch club want even more than that for the former Spurs man, having informed Nuno Espirito Santo’s side that the winger would cost at least £40m.

With Spurs now seemingly stepping up efforts to sign Traore, the club’s pursuit of Madueke appears dead in the water. As talented as Madueke is, one can certainly understand why Paratici and co would have baulked at PSV’s rumoured £40m asking price given that the winger has had just one good season in Dutch football.
