Report: QPR snap up midfielder released by Tottenham this week

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the signing of Tottenham academy graduate Rafferty Pedder, who was released by the North Londoners this week.

Pedder, who was born in Maidstone, joined Spurs at a young age and rose through the ranks all the way up to the Under-23s.

In total, the 19-year-old played 38 times for Tottenham’s youth sides, picking up one goal and two assists across all competitions (TransferMarkt).

However, the midfielder was not handed too many opportunities this campaign, making just three appearances for Wayne Brunette’s side.

Spurs confirmed on Monday, along with the announcement that Kion Etete has joined League One side Cheltenham Town on loan, that Pedder had parted ways with the club.

It was reported last month that the youngster was having a trial at QPR and even featured for the R’s Under-23’s against Blackburn Rovers.

The Championship club have now confirmed that Pedder has signed a contract at Loftus Road until the end of the season following a successful trial.

This is a good career move for Pedder given the competition he was facing to get into the Under-23 side at Spurs. The 19-year-old stands a much better chance of playing regularly at QPR and potentially even forcing himself into their first team in the future.
