Report: Race heating up for striker Spurs made approach for in January

The interest in Zenit St. Petersburg striker, Artem Dzyuba, is said to be heating up this summer, according to reports from Italy.

Dzyuba has been one of the most consistent strikers in Russian football for several years now and has helped Zenit to win plenty of silverware in that time.

He has been in amazing form yet again this campaign, having registered fifteen goals and twelve assists in all competitions so far (transfermarkt).

The 31-year-old, who is known for his strength and his ability in the air, admitted that Tottenham made an approach to sign him in January after Harry Kane suffered a hamstring injury but that Zenit weren’t interested in doing a deal (Russia 24 as relayed by Daily Mail).

Calico Mercato now report that Serie A duo Lazio and Milan have both entered the race to sign Dzyuba, who will be out of contract this summer. Lazio are said to be particularly interested in bringing the Russian international to Stadio Olimpico.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is certainly a pattern with respect to the strikers we are linked with. The likes of Olivier Giroud, Vedat Muriqi, Arkadiusz Milik, and Artem Dzyuba, are all players who offer a presence inside the box and are good at bringing others into play. It is something we have missed since we let Llorente leave last summer.
