Report: Real Betis make contact with alleged Spurs target over free transfer

Real Betis have made contact with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, an upcoming free agent who Tottenham are also said to be interested in, according to Corriere della Sera.

Dybala is set to depart the Bianconeri at the end of the season after failing to agree on new terms with the club (Sky Sports).

And Corriere della Sera claim Betis have approached Dybala’s entourage about a potential move with the Seville-based club hoping to offer him a different sort of project to that at Juventus.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have undergone an impressive campaign and could tempt the Argentine over to Spain with the club in contention to secure a Champions League spot.

However, the report adds that Tottenham remain in the background in terms of their interest alongside Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Spurs chased Dybala in the summer of 2019 and reportedly agreed a £64.4 million fee with Juve (Sky Sports), but a deal failed to materialise.

Dybala has scored 13 goals in 29 games this season in a campaign disrupted largely by injury (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

News of Dybala likely leaving as a free agent this summer should mean a lot of clubs will take an interest in him in the coming weeks.

He would improve most teams around Europe, including Spurs, but the one issue is his availability and how fit he would stay over the course of a season.

Either way, it would be silly if Spurs don’t intend on testing the waters with an offer to him, especially under the guidance of Antonio Conte.
